Hobbton Middle gets soccer win

Hobbton Middle hosted Roseboro-Salemburg Tuesday in soccer action, defeating the young Leopards 9-3.

Hobbton would score 90 seconds into the match when Gustavo Ventura passed to Kevin Montes who netted the goal. Four minutes later, Cesar Castillo received a pass from Andres Escalera and blasted the shot for the 2-0 lead. Jair Sanchez would score five minutes later, receiving a through-pass from Larry Favela to increase the lead.Castillo would net his second goal two minutes later off of a pass from Sanchez.

John Garcia would net his first of three goals for the Leopards with eight minutes left in the first half. Hobbton would get an own goal from RSMS to take a 5-1 lead. Two minutes later, Christian Vega headed in a corner kick from Irvin Castillo to make it 6-1. Cesar Castillo would got the hat trick when Larry Favela found him open for the 7-1 halftime lead.

The teams battled evenly in the second half, but Hobbton’s Ventura got on the board when Favela found him open for his first goal. John Garcia would score to cut the lead to 8-2. Hobbton’s last goal would be at 22:00 when Vega found the goal again off of an assist from Cesar Castillo. Garcia would score with 20 seconds left to finish the scoring at 9-3.

Hobbton is home on Thursday verses Union Middle. Game time is 4 p.m.. Hobbton’s record improves to 2-1.
