CLINTON — Mr. Leon Victor Brewer, 65, of 147 Nathan Dudley Road, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at his home surrounded by family and friends.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7, at Grove Park Baptist Church in Clinton with Dr. Glenn Jonas and the Rev. Michael Shook officiating. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.

Mr. Brewer, born in 1947 in Sampson County, was the son of Christeen Avent Brewer and the late Ernest Victor Brewer. He was a former employee with Sampson County Schools from 1973-2000, where he served as the Child Nutrition Director, and he worked part-time with Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home. He was an Army Veteran serving from 1966-1968. Mr. Brewer was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church where he was a former deacon and RA Leader, and he was also a former member of the Civitans. Leon enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.

Mr. Brewer is survived by his wife, Betty Tyndall Brewer of the home; a daughter, Monica B. Puryear and husband, Neil of Clinton; a son, Chad L. Brewer and wife, Angie Pearson Brewer of Clinton; his mother, Christeen Avent Brewer of Clinton; a sister, Denise Brewer Bullard and brother-in-law, Johnny of Clinton; and four grandchildren, Savannah Puryear, Zoey Brewer, Kensley Puryear, and Cullen Brewer; and two nephews, Taylor and Connor Bullard.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home and other times at the home.
