The Hobbton Lady Wildcats fell to the mighty Lakewood Leopards in front of a home crowd in high school volleyball action played Thursday night.

Lakewood’s junior varsity girls beat Hobbton 3-0 (25-5;26-24; and 25-5).
“In the second game, we tried to change things up a little bit,” said Lakewood head coach Sheila Davidson. “We didn’t win in that second game, but I will tell you something, I am proud of the way the girls played. They did a good job.”
Leaders for Hobbton were: Joanne Hinson, ace; Haley Martinez, 2 aces; Kaylee Matthews, 3 aces.
Varsity
The Leopards came opened up the first game with a 25-9 victory, won the second game 25-15 and the final match 25-17 to earn their 16th victory of the season (16-1 overall).
“I thought it was the best all-around game that we have played all season,” said Davidson. “It was the best overall skilled game that I had seen them play all year. Hopefully, we can build upon this momentum going into Tuesday’s game against Pender.”
Leaders for Lakewood were: Rashyda Parker, 14 kills; Tisha Rich, 7 kills; Jache Servance, 5 kills; Allison Heinz, 25 assists.
Leaders for Hobbton: Taylor Bowden, 1 ace, 2 kills, 6 assists, 11 digs; Marcy McLamb, 8 digs; Casey Hobbs, 3 kills, 1 assists, 2 blocks, 3 digs; Michalea Wilson, 3 kills 22 digs.
Lakewood will play again Tuesday night at home vs. Pender; Hobbton will play at Wallace-Rose Hill Tuesday night. Games begin at 4:30 p.m.
