Despite coming out flat in the first half of Thursday’s game against Wallace-Rose Hill, the Union Spartan junior varsity football team delivered a solid second half of football, falling 50-8.

“We played a much better second half than we did in the first half,” said Spartans head coach Josh Rackley. “We were flat in the first half, but we came out after the half and played a lot better football.”

The Bulldogs took a comfortable 42-0 lead into the half.

“Our guys came out and played better offensively and defensively,” said Rackley. “We were able to do some positive things … but in the end, it is just one of those games that you have to learn from.”

With the loss, Union falls to 2-5 overall and will play again next week at home vs. Trask. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
