The Lady Bulldogs of Wallace-Rose Hill proved too strong for Hobbton’s girls Tuesday night, as the ‘Dogs took both the JV and varsity volleyball matches.

The JV lost in two — 25-11, 25-18. The varsity remained competitive, but couldn’t finish, falling to Wallace in five — 25-23; 24-26; 25-17; 23-25; 16-14.

“It was a disappointing road loss,” said coach Russell Jones of the varsity game. “We played well at times, but we weren’t consistent and that will get you every time.”

The JV continues to work at improving, but weren’t able to finish against the Lady Bulldogs.

Individually for the Wildcat JV, Melissa Galleagos had 1 kill, 1 assist and 1 dig; Joanna Hinson, 1 kill, 1 assist, 1 block, 4 digs; Haley Martinez, 1 kill, 2 digs; Reese Holland, 1 assist, 2 digs; Taylor Aman, 1 ace, 1 kill, 4 digs; Royce Johnson, 3 digs; Kaley Matthews, 3 kills, 1 dig; and Amanda Smith, 1 kill.

The varsity, Jones said, showed strong play against the Wallace girls, but despite the close score, Hobbton simply couldn’t finish.

Leading the way for the varsity ‘Cats were Taylor Bowden, 2 aces, 2 kills, 33 assists, 15 digs; Marcie McLamb, 1 ace, 4 kills, 28 digs; Casey Hobbs, 3 aces, 9 kills, 1 assist, 2 blocks, 6 digs; Michaela Wilson, 5 aces, 13 kills, 34 digs; Courtney Phipps, 5 aces, 3 kills, 1 assist and 11 digs; McKenna Smith, 2 aces, 11 kills, 3 assists, 1 block, 15 digs; Brittney Testerman, 1 dig; and Haley Evans, 7 digs.

Hobbton returns to the court Thursday for a cross-county matchup with Midway during the ‘Cats Senior Night. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
