The Sampson Community Theatre is abuzz with activity as the cast goes over and over their lines and lyrics for this musical-comedy that has its opening night in only three weeks. Marcelle Powell is once again type-casted as a Mother Superior having had a similar role in last summer’s production of “The Sound Of Music.”

Marcelle is an eighth-grade math teacher at Hobbton Middle School who performs in this show as Sister Juniper, the Mother Superior of the convent. Her second in command is Sister Mary Hubert being performed by Caitlin Joyner who just happens to be Mercells’s daughter. Caitlin is a senior at Hobbton High and has been on our stage multiple times, the last being in “The Putnam County Spelling Bee.” Angela Martin will now have the role of Sister Robert Ann by herself since Mary Thompson had to drop out due to circumstances beyond her control.

Teresa and Guy Padgett, husband and wife, will have been on stage together for the fifth time when this show is over. Teresa is casted as Sister Mary Paul Amnesia while Guy is the show’s Father Virgil. Guy and Jessica Watts are in their second straight show, both having been in “The Carl Burnett Show.” Jessica is casted as Sister Mary Leo. The Stage Manager is Jordan Kennedy and Michael Daughty will be providing the piano music. Come to see this show and be prepared to laugh a lot.

The granite blocks under the theater’s marquee may be purchased as an honorarium, a memorial or to advertise your business. The blocks are cemented into the sidewalk and should be there into the next century or more. Contact us by calling 592-8653 and leave us a message for more information.
