BURGAW — Four County Electric Membership Corporation has awarded $4,000 through its Operation Round Up® TRUST fund to the Sampson Crisis Center in support of their Food Bank program. The Food Bank distributes food and other items to citizens of Sampson County who are currently facing an unforeseen personal or financial crisis.
Operation Round Up® TRUST also donated $2,000 to the 3rd Annual Chamber of Commerce Coat Closet Community Service project. This project seeks to assist families in local communities who are in need of warm winter clothing, by collecting and distributing donated coats through various agencies throughout Sampson County.
Currently, over 25,000 members of the Cooperative help change the lives of their neighbors, friends and cooperative members through the Operation Round Up® program. Participating Four County EMC members agree to have their bills rounded up through the Operation Round Up® program to the next whole dollar each month. For example, if your electric bill is $102.67, you will be billed for $103.00. The difference of .33¢ goes into the Operation Round Up® TRUST Fund account and is managed by a TRUST Board.
Since Operation Round Up® began in 1994, over $2 million has been awarded to Four County EMC members in crisis situations and non-profit organizations that provide assistance and services to the Cooperative’s members.
