Sampson’s Dark Horses got the home win against Union Middle Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Spartans 22-8.

Union got on the board first, though, taking it into the end zone and following it up with a 2-point conversion, giving them an early 8-0 lead.

But Sampson came alive quickly after when Tyion Wright got an 8-yard touchdown run. His 2-point conversion knotted the score.

It stayed at 8 until the half.

The middle Dark Horses came back from the break fired up. Rayheem Skinner got the score from 10 yards out, but the 2-point conversion failed. Clinton was up 14-8.

Five minutes later Union went in the air, a pass that was intercepted by Sampson’s J. Robinson, who set up the play three minutes later for Skinner who took it in from 4 yards out for the TD. Skinner got the 2-point conversion and Clinton was up 22-8.

Union never scored again.

No results were called in by press time from Union.

Sampson plays host to Midway next Wednesday afternoon.
