Clinton secured a senior night victory over Northside Monday afternoon, defeating the visitors 2-1.

Coach Brad Spell said he played all 15 of his seniors Monday. “It was a good night for us. We moved the ball well, our energy level was high; the main thing we need to work on is finishing. We had a lot of opportunities tonight that we didn’t capitalize on.

“Hopefully we will be focused on that as we enter the playoffs next week,” Spell said.

Dark Horses Ryan Taylor and Wil Pearson scored Clinton’s goals Monday.

Clinton finished its regular season ranked fifth in the state and second in the 2A conference, a half-game back from Topsail who had a game Monday and one Wednesday before their season is complete.

The playoffs are expected to start next week, with Spell hoping to get the game moved from Halloween to Oct. 30. “I’m hoping to get that done,” the coach stressed.

Clinton finishes regular play 14-5-2 overall and 9-1-2 in the conference.

Spell said it had been a good season. “I just want to thank my seniors, their parents and the coaches they’ve had along the way that helped them grow and develop. I have been blessed to have this fine group of guys. Now I just hope we can continue our journey.”
