When I hear the word “cook,” I often think of an activity where one is in the kitchen creating a meal or baked goodies. Cooking is an art, and I must admit a cook I am not. However, let’s explore another aspect of “to cook,” which is “to be in preparation, to develop.” When one is cooking, there is a blending of ingredients to create a new product or outcome. In the Chamber office, there are certain ingredients that create economic growth and partnerships — challenges, opportunities, and experiences.
This past Monday, as with each Monday, we recognized our Member of the Week, Kosterman Chiropractic Care in Clinton. I was able to speak with Dr. Tim Kosterman about not only what they offer Sampson County but also what challenges they face. Dr. Tim began by stating their office brings many opportunities to the residents of Sampson County when it comes to being treated for Chiropractic care. Kosterman “blends high touch and high tech chiropractic care. With combining the “old-fashion” style of high touch, hands on adjusting, with the latest equipment, such as state of the arc nerve testing, digital x-rays, and electro-therapy.” These two ingredients blended together allow Kosterman Chiropractic Care to have clinical results that are more efficient with the use of technology. Dr. Tim continued that a challenge for them is “informing and educating the public. For every one person that is in a chiropractic office, there are 10 others that need to be.”
Our third ingredient that creates economic growth and partnerships is experiences. This past Tuesday, we had our Agriculture Day of Adult Leadership where the leadership class was able to explore Prestage Farms Moltonville Feed Mill, Warren Farming Company, Sampson Cotton Gin and Smithfield Foods. What an experience to be able to see the behind-the-scenes, learn and understand more about each process. Did you know that Sampson County is number 1 in both sweet potatoes and tobacco in North Carolina? Did you know that 215 pairs of jeans are created from one bale of cotton? Each experience we had from Tuesday’s Agriculture Day can be applied in our daily lives to be a part of economic growth and future partnerships.
I invite you to begin to explore your challenges, opportunities, and experiences and apply within Sampson County for economic growth and future partnerships. As we are “working together for total community development,” I know Sampson County will continue to achieve economic growth.
