Sprunt to hold International Week beginning Nov. 12

KENANSVILLE — James Sprunt Community College will host International Education Week Nov. 12 - 17 on its campus in Kenansville, with a series of free multicultural events presented at noon.

Monday, Nov.12, introduces JSCC International Education Week Facebook page. Tuesday, Nov. 13 features “Glimpse of Cuba” and a lecture on direct travel education tour to Cuba from the United States, June 2012 in the Strickland Common Area.

Then on Wednesday, Nov. 14, the school will host the International Quiz Bowl in Monk Auditorium. Teams will compete in this annual global quiz event for the JSCC Global Challenge Award. The concluding event will be on Thursday, Nov. 15, featuring music from around the world, including the most played YouTube video of all time “Gangman Style” by International Music Artist “PSY.” This presentation will be in the Strickland Common Area.

International Education Week is “part of an effort to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States.” It is a joint initiative of the US Departments of State and Education and is celebrated worldwide in more than 100 countries.
