Robust in its Victorian inspiration is the John and Henry Hoey House, which was built around 1908. This one-and-a-half story Queen Anne cottage features an especially attractive facade with turned posts and balustrade on the mult-bay porch and hipped roof dormers crowning the side gable roof. After its purchase in 2005, the home was extensively renovated by the Bullard Family and now features four bedrooms and three full baths.

Evocative of the Greek Revival style, the Hines house was build around 1905 as a rental house for C. S. Hines, then president of the Faison Bank. Of particular note are the front post and balustrade, the sidelites and the refinished pine floors. The house passed to the Cates Family before being converted into a duplex. The house was completely renovated by the Bullard Family in 2008 and now serves as the office for the Bullard Law Firm.

The Brewer Home at 207 E. Main St. was built in 1942 by Addis and Esther Cates. The original Cates home outside Faison had burned that year. During World War II civilians were not allowed to use building materials needed for the war effort for personal use. Mr. Cates traveled to Washington, D.C. to seek permission to purchase building materials for a new home. His permit stated that he could build dwelling that could be used to entertain military or civilian personnel if needed. So with permission granted, Boney and Associates of Wilmington designed a ranch style brick house for the Cates family. Following the death of Mrs. Cates, the house was sold in 2007 to Glenn and Melba Brewer of Faison. Christmas decoration will be in keeping with the time period of the home and will feature greenery, topiaries, fruit and favorite family ornaments. Feel free to visit the grandchildren quarters upstairs and Glenn's man cave in the basement.

The home of Murray and Ann Crawford located at 7795 Suttontown Road is a Christmas experience not to miss. Built in 1979, he house and grounds become transformed into an indescribable Christmas/winter wonderland each year for the holidays. Ann possesses artistic style and interior decorator creativity along with 'Wonder Woman' energy which together delight and amaze those lucky enough to attend her annual holiday gatherings. Attention to detail is certainly Ann's goal as she decorates nearly a hundred trees and fits them in perfect setting of holiday finery. It is suggested you visit this house last to allow you to enjoy the millions of lights along the with the beautiful holiday decorations.

FAISON — The Faison Christmas Tour of Homes will be Sunday, Dec. 9 from 2 until 6 p.m.
Celebrate the beauty of the season with a visit to four festive homes representing Faison’s distinctive southern heritage. Personally guided tours afford rare opportunity to experience the warmth of Christmas in these unique local homes:
The ca. 1941 — Brewer Home at 207 E. Main St.
The ca. 1908 — Bullard Home at 213 N. Faison Ave.
The ca. 1905 — Bullard Law Office at 215 n. Faison Ave.
The ca. 1979 — Crawford Home at 7795 Suttontown Road.
As part of the festivities, the Bullard Law Firm will also host an arts and crafts sale by five local artist and a raffle drawing at 3 p.m. for the winner of Faison’s 2012 Market Day painting.
