Three sisters found themselves on the wrong side of the law over the weekend after they refused to leave a local restaurant and bar following a fight.
Imena Coats, 18; Shaneen Coats, 23; and Shermila Coats, 26, all of 2151 Big Piney Grove Church Road, Clinton, were charged with trespassing following the incident at Wingz American Grill on Northeast Boulevard.
Imena Coats is also facing charges of underage drinking and assault on a government officer. Her bond was the highest, set at $2,500.
The other two sisters were given $500 bonds each.
According to Clinton Police reports, the incident began just before 2 a.m. when security officers at the eatery called 911 for assistance after a fight.
The fight had been broken apart, officers noted in reports, but the sisters refused to leave the premises. Detective A. Clowney, along with other officers was called to the scene, and when Clowney attempted to get Imena Coats to leave the premises, the detective said the suspect pushed her in the shoulder.
That’s when Imena Coats was taken into custody. During transport to the Detention Center, reports note that the officer smelled a strong scent of alcohol on the 18-year-old who was reportedly wearing a wrist band indicating she was old enough for admittance into Wingz when, in fact, she was not.
She told officers she was invited to drink by an unknown male inside the restaurant and bar. Imena Coats registered a .10 on a breathalyzer exam.
Her older sisters were only charged with trespassing.
Wingz has been the site of several similar fights that have escalated into other charges over the past several months.
