The Clinton High School baseball team defeated their second strong team Wednesday with a 11-1 victory over East Central Conference foe South Lenoir.

Taylor Stanley moved his pitching record to 3-0 with the win going the entire 6 innings, allowing 5 hits and striking out 6.

“This was our second back-to-back win over a strong baseball team,” expressed Dark Horse varsity baseball coach Tracey Thornton. “It was especially good as we have not had a good game against South Lenoir in over two years. They have been the conference leaders for the last three years and it was good to get this one. It is a good way to start our conference season.”

The Dark Horses garnered 11 hits in Wednesday’s game and moved their overall record to 5-1 and stand at 1-0 in conference play.

Leaders for Clinton: Taylor Tew, 3/4, 2 doubles, RBI; Kevin Norris, 2/4, 2 stolen bases; Kullen Bell, 1/2, double, 2 RBIs; Quentin Hill, 1/2, RBI.

Clinton will travel to Northside on Friday with the first pitch scheduled to be thrown out at 5:30 p.m.
