FAISON — Mrs. Amanda LaRoyce Best Oates, 77, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 4, 2012, at Southwood Nursing Center in Clinton.

Mrs. Oates, widow of Donald Lewis Oates, had been a long time resident of the Suttontown area of Faison. She was a native of Mount Olive, and was the daughter of the late Roscoe A. and Carrie Ola Peele Best. She had been a long time employee of Burlington Industries.

The funeral will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, and will be officiated by the Rev. Richard Cuddington. Visitation will immediately follow the service. Burial will be Friday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. at the Farmer Family Cemetery, Mount Olive.

Mrs. Oates is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa O. and Jimmy Burch of Faison, Melodie O. and Donnie Vann of Clinton, and Donna O. and Blake Warren of Newton Grove; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Duck and Charles Macon of Raleigh, and Jeanie and Jimmy Merritt of Mount Olive; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Bobby and Cecile Best of Mount Olive, Ronnie Best of Mount Olive, Merdie Best of Mount Olive (widow of deceased brother, Billy Best), and Joyce Oates of Faison; grandchildren, Jimmy O. Burch, Jared Burch, and Lewis Oates, all of Faison, Amanda Carol Warren of Raleigh, Pamela Lewis of Clinton, William Warren of Smithfield, and Dawn Kennedy of Faison; great-grandchildren, Morgan Lynn Lewis, Paige Martin, and Madison Kennedy; and many nieces and nephews.
