Blake Bellanger, son of Ryan and Tracie Bellanger of Clinton, has been cast in the Carolina Ballet production of “The Nutcracker.”

The sixth-grader at Harrells Christian Academy auditioned with hundreds of young dangers in September to participate in this professional production directed by former Balanchine dancer Robert Weiss. He is a dance student at the Performing Arts School in Clinton and has studied ballet, hip-hop, clogging and acrobatics.

Blake has rehearsed weekly for three months at the Carolina Ballet studios in Raleigh. He is dancing in the first act of the show in the party scene. This scene is presented with elaborate choreography and sets. This particular production incorporates magic tricks, and all of the participants are sworn to secrecy.

The Carolina Ballet will present “The Nutcracker” at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium Dec. 14-16, 20-23, and at the Durham Performing Arts Center Dec. 29-30. Tickets are available through ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-982-2787.
