CLINTON — Mr. George Dwight Gandee, 79, of 1401 Wynn Road, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 22, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Ameen officiating. Interment followed in Grandview Memorial Park.

Mr. Gandee, born in West Virginia, was the son of the late Arthur James Gandee and Bertha Irene Woodcock Gandee and the husband of Mary Ellen Weeks Gandee. He was a carpenter.He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Megan Hope; four sisters and eight brothers.

Mr. Gandee is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ellen Weeks Gandee; three sons, Bobby Dewayne Gandee of Hampton, Va., Stanley Gandee and wife, Denise of Gloucester, Va., Christopher James Gandee of Hampton, Va.; one daughter, Dwendolyn Jo Price and husband, Kenneth of Mechanicsville, Va.; one brother, Harry W. Gandee and wife, Ruth of Smithfield, Va.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family received friends from 10 - 11 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and other time at the home.
