
Sampson Middle holds Red Ribbon celebration
Recently Sampson Middle School observed Red Ribbon Week, an annual national fight against alcohol and drugs. Each day the students participated, dressing according to the theme, bringing in canned goods, writing poems, creating art work and making posters supporting the cause. Sampson Middle partnered with Sampson County 4-H and they sponsored prizes for the following winners. Mrs. Richardson's class brought in the most canned goods with a total of 84 cans, and they will receive a pizza party. Mrs. Edwards' class had 100 percent daily participation and they will receive an ice cream party. Individual winners were, below: Carter Lowe, poster contest winner - $15 Walmart card; Aunya Stywall, substance abuse prevention painting contest winner - $25 Walmart card; Kimberly Owens, best poem winner - $15 Walmart card; and Ahjayla Morrisey, best essay contest winner - $15 Walmart card.
