Clinton police are searching for two suspects believed responsible for a late New Year’s Day robbery at the Papa John’s pizza trailer in Coharie Plaza.

Police chief Jay Tilley said all officers currently had to go on was minimal descriptions of two black males who robbed the pizza employee and took off in a silver vehicle.

“We’ve processed the scene and are conducting an investigation,” Tilley said. “We don’t have a lot to go on at this point.”

Officers were called to the plaza shortly before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday to investigate the robbery. According to reports, the two suspects reportedly walked up to the pizza trailer, threatened the use of a gun and demanded money.

“No weapon was ever produced,” Tilley stressed. “There was only the threat of a gun.”

The suspects, the chief said, made off with a small amount of cash. No one was injured.

An investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Police Department at 592-3105.
