Sampson girls defeat Union

Sampson Middle’s Lady Dark Horses added another W to their perfect record this season with a win Tuesday over visiting Union Middle. Final score was 34-6.

Coach Jamie Harper praised the play of her team, noting their defensive effort.

“They did an excellent job on defense,” the coach stressed of her Clinton girls. “They played well as a team, moving the ball around.”

A number of girls scored in the game, with standout Michaela Boykin leading the effort with 14 points, followed closely behind by teammate Kiera Mabry with 12. Also scoring for the Sampson girls was Edye Carr, 2; Jessica Hamilton, 2; Reagan Barefoot, 2; and Mariah Boone-Whitted, 2.

The win moves the Sampson team to 3-0. They will play host to Midway Middle’s Raider girls Thursday in a 4 p.m. game.
