Local churches holding services to honor King

Regular morning worship service will be held at the Snowhill Missionary Baptist Church, Roseboro, Sunday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. The pastor, the Rev. S.E. Bryant, will bring the morning message and the adult choir will provide the music. At 3 p.m., the annual Martin Luther King service will be held. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Victor L. Wilson accompanied by his choir and congregation from the Lisbon Street Missionary Baptist Curch of Clinton. There will be other guests participating during the service. Don’t miss this program.

Regular morning worship service will be held at the Wilson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Turkey Sunday, Jan. 20 at 11:15 a.m. The guest minister will be the Rev. F. Bernard Fuller of Fayetteville and music will be provided by the adult choir. Everyone is cordially invited to attend.

On Saturday night, Jan. 19, there will be a Rainbow Tea held at the VFW building in Warsaw, sponsored by the First Missionary Baptist Church in Bowden, in honor of their pastor, the Rev. Harold Boykin of Clinton. On Saturday, Jan. 26, at 6 p.m., the 13th pre-anniversary service will be held at First Baptist, Bowden, featuring Lamanuel Boykin and Co. of Riglewoood, Michael Boykin and the Mighty Voices of Clinton, solos and other groups. On Sunday, Jan. 27, the 13th anniversary will climax. The guests will be pastor Ray Bolton, choir and congregation of the Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Clinton. Lunch will be served following the morning service. At 3 p.m., the guests will be the Rev. Victor Wilson, choir and congregation of Lisbon Street. Everyone is invited to attend all these services.

Regular morning worship service will be held at Little Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Clinton Sunday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. The pastor, the Rev. Harold Boykin, will preach and the choir will render the music.

The 35th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Service will be held Sunday, Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 4442 Bonnetsville Road, Clinton. Choir rehearsal date will be Monday, Jan. 21 and 28 at 7 p.m. at Mount Pleasant. All churches in Sampson and surrounding counties are asked to participate. This program is sponsored by the Sampson County Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance. The Rev. Marvin T. Clowney Sr. is the president and the Rev. Harold Boykin is the vice president. The Big Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Clinton invites everyone to attend a Missionary Candlelight March service Sunday, Jan. 20 at 4 p.m. The guests will be the Rev. O. Jimel Williamson and the Pleasant Union Missionary Baptist Church choir and congregation of Wilmington. Everyone is invited.

Saint Stephens Holiness Church of Turkey will have their regular morning worship service Sunday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Willie Bryant bringing forth the morning message and the youth choir will provide the music. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Kennth Morrisey, choir and congregation of Faison Chapel Baptist Church of Warsaw. Don’t miss it.

The Faison Family will hold its 26th anniversary Sunday, Jan. 20 at the Greater Six Runs Missionary Baptist , Turkey, beginning at 3 p.m. Several groups will be on the program, including Unity Male Chorus of Rose Hill; First Baptist adult choir of Calpyso, First Baptist Male Chorus of Turkey; Sensational Gospel Singers of Clinton; Set Apart Singers of Goldsboro; the Williams Family of Turkey; Warsaw Male Chorus of Warsaw; The Brinson Singers of Warsaw and several others groups. Trinity United Free Will Holiness Church, Clinton, will have their regular morning worship service Sunday, Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. Pastor Ann Mosson will bring the morning message and the choir will render the music. Don’t miss it. For transportation, call 910-337-3272.

The Mingle Hill Disiciples of Christ Church will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. on Sunday, Jan. 20 at 3:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Harry Hines and the Saint Thomas AME Zion Church family of Roseboro. All are welcome to attend. The host pastor is Eddie Parker.

On Sunday, Jan. 20, the Friendly Trio will have a Musical Gospel Train program. The theme will be “Get Aboard this Gospel Train.” Devotions and inspirational words will bbe a part of the program. The following groups will participate: Evangelist Margaret McCall and Judy Praise; the Yelverton Sngers, Earl Music Ministries and the Mighty Warriors, Shanneka Murphy, Jackie Christmas and others. This service will be held at the Friendly Community Center at 6 p.m.

The Western Assembly Disicples of Christ Churches Bible Institute will begin the 2013 course January through October. The fee is $20 for registration at the Western Assembly headquarters building, 9766 U.S. Hwy. 701 north, Newton Grove. You are cordially invited to join the Union Grove Church of Christ, Clinton in the spirit of Christian fellowship and love on Sunday, Feb. 3 at 3 p.m. This is the day we will gather to celebrate our love for Jesus Christ. Pastor Alice Jean Boykin of the Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Clinton, will deliver the special message of love. With February representing the mont of love the church family would be honored for the public to be their Valentine for Jesus. The dress for the event is red or white in honor of this celebration. The church has a ffaith goal of over 100 wmen who will make the choice to participate in this year’s service and be special guests. The church family is encouraging men to show their unconditional support for these lovely ladies by coming out and participating in this special celebration of love for Jesus. Baldwin Branch Male Chorus will provide the music. The missionary department of Union Grove Church of Christ is hosting this program and providing refreshments.
