Two Sampson County men have been charged with two counts each of embezzlement following an investigation by the Sampson County Sheriff’s Department and security personnel with Murphy-Brown.

The pair — Walter Flores, 43, 4325 Hayne Stretch Road, Roseboro and Hosmar Placacios, 43, 208 Livingstone Place, Clinton — were jailed under $10,000 secured bonds, but both have since been released.

According to sheriff’s Capt. Eric Pope, Flores and Placacios are accused of selling hogs from a Murphy-Brown farm on Hayne Stretch Road and pocketing money made from the sale. Both suspects were employees of the farm.

The two were arrested on Jan. 10, but the report was not filed at the Sheriff’s Department until Friday, Jan. 25.

All four embezzlement charges are felonies.
