A 20-year-old Sampson County man was jailed without privilege of bond over the weekend, charged with assaulting a woman in her Pleasant Union Road home.

William Cory Chandler, 2241 Pleasant Union Road, Roseboro, was jailed under domestic violence laws after the victim told law enforcement that he assaulted her.

She received minor injuries in the incident, sheriff’s reports noted, and was taken to Sampson Regional Medical Center for treatment of those injuries. She was treated and released.

Chandler was taken into custody and charged with assault on a female and two counts of communicating threats. In addition, officers served him with outstanding warrants charging him with another communicating threat offenses as well as injury to personal property. He was given a $3,500 bond for those addition charges.

He is to make his first appearance in court on Feb. 5.
