Clinton’s JV girls lost a close one at home Tuesday night, falling to Croatan 36-32.

The game was close all night, with the young Lady Horses behind 8-6 after one quarter and up 14-12 at the half.

“We started the game off very strong and we kept the game close,” said coach Regina Parker. “We came out in the third quarter and jumped all over the other team defensively and built a 12-point lead. Unfortunately we fell apart in the fourth quarter with tons of turnovers and bad passes.”

The Croatan press, Parker said, allowed them to get back in the game and eventually get the win.

“This was a very tough loss for our team,” Parker stressed.

Brielle Mitchell and Zoey Harris led scoring for the JV girls with 11 points each; Jacklyn Parker had 6 points; Jasmine Fryar, 2; and Talaya Butler 2.

Clinton’s JV record moves to 10-5 overall and 5-3 in the conference. They travel to Swansboro for a game Friday afternoon.
