On Wednesday morning, Clinton Police responded to a disturbance call at the Royal Lane Apartments. Moments later, they would be arresting a Warsaw man for assault on a female and carrying a concealed weapon.

At 3:30 a.m., officers responded to a call from a woman who claimed to be locked outside of her home by her “baby’s father.”

When police arrived, they found Jeffrey Devon Morrisey, 22, of 516 Revelle Road, Warsaw, outside walking near his truck. According to reports, officers ordered Morrisey to stop, but he continued to walk away, yelling, “the gun is in my truck, the gun is in my truck.”

After Morrisey was seized and placed in handcuffs, the woman who called police explained the situation.

Reports show she told investigators that she called Morrisey to help her with their child since she had been suffering from a brief illness. Morrisey obliged. However, when the woman heard the baby crying loudly and discovered Morrisey “passed out” on her couch, she confronted him. Reports state that Morrisey became physical after the confrontation and jumped on top of the woman, held her face down and then “back-handed” her.

Photos were taken of the woman and Morrisey was arrested and charged with assault on a female. After a safety “pat down” of his vehicle, police found a Cobra .380-caliber semi-automatic handgun in his vehicle. He was charged additionally with carrying a concealed weapon.

Morrisey was taken to the Sampson County Detention Center and given no bond for the domestic assault charge and a $2,000 secured bond on the weapons charge. He has a trial date of May 4.

The child was not injured in the incident.
