Clinton’s JV girls defeat East Duplin

Clinton’s JV girls caged gave rival East Duplin a sound thumping Friday night, winning the home game 36-17.

“The girls played an all-around good game tonight,” said coach Regina Parker after the game. “They had great ball movement and hustle tonight. I was very proud of them.”

It was all Clinton from the start, with the young Lady Horses grabbing an early 13-8 first quarter lead and digging their heels in for the win.

East Duplin rallied in the second quarter, to dig their way back into the game, but Clinton still lead at the half 17-12.

But the third quarter was all Clinton, with the young team excelling on offense while their defense held the Panthers scoreless. Final score at the end of three was 32-12.

Brielle Mitchell led scoring for Clinton with 16 points. Also scoring were Jasmine Fryar with 8; Zoey Harris with 6; Ashley Dixon, 3; Talaya Butler, 2; and Jacklyn Parker, 1.

The JV Lady Horses play their final game of the season next Tuesday against Northside at home.
