Clinton’s girls didn’t fair any better than the boys Tuesday night, falling to the visiting Northside Monarchs, 48-42.

From the moment the game began, the Monarchs kept the lead overpowering the hard to overpower Lady Horses. Staying close behind, the Clinton girls would finish the first quarter with a close yet comfortable score of 9-8.

Hoping to get in the lead, the Horses played with all they had in the second quarter. Coming out once again with a 1-point lead, the Monarchs would take a 22-21 lead into the break.

After half time, the Lady Horses regained their confidence, but Northside’s defense stepped up their game, too, allowing them to hold onto the lead. By quarter’s end, the visitors were now up 33-29

Clinton plowed ahead, and the game remained one of basket-trading, but Northside had the edge and eventually came away with the W.

Leading the way for Clinton were Courtney Pearsall, with 17 points; Tamara Murphy, 7; Kristen Glasper, 6; Tiandra Johnson 3; and Lexus Simpson and Bianca Owens, with 2 points each.

The Lady Dark Horses will play at home Friday. It is Senior Night.
