Matthew 4:4 says “but he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by Bread alone, but by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God.”

Today there are so many Christians who are living by “bread alone,” and that’s a sad way to live. Saints of God, you must read your Bible for yourself and stop depending on the preacher. The preacher could be telling you something that is wrong or in error, but because you don’t read your Bible you will never know that it is an error.

Jesus makes it very clear what man will need to make it in this world. If he saw the need to quote the word of God, how much more are we to need it? How can you call yourself a Christian and not study or open up your Bible outside of your scheduled times. It bothers me as a minister to see so many Christians reading other things such as newspapers, Facebook, magazines and other materials, but they are not reading their Bibles. They put all their time, effort, and energy into these things and give God and his word leftovers.

Where does God and his word fit into your busy life? The excuse that some Christians use is “I can’t understand the Bible.” Well that’s what the Holy Spirit iis for — he will explain the word to you. The time is now for you to desire the word of God, for it can comfort you, heal you, keep you and also correct you.

Jesus quoted the Bible back at Satan during his wilderness experience and it worked for him; so that should let you know that God’s Word has POWER to make the Devil flee for a season. Start reading your Bibles daily and see the awesomeness of God’s Holy Word.
