Midway Middle pitcher Savannah Lee was on the hill for her third straight game Monday, assisting the Raider girls in securing their third win of the season, this one against visiting Roseboro-Salemburg Middle. Final score was 9-2.

The win gives the girls a perfect 3-0 record as they head into a fierce battle Thursday with Union, also at 3-0 with wins over both R-S (8-2) and Hobbton Middle (7-1) earlier in the season.

Lee struck out 6 from the hill in the game.

R-S actually took the early lead, scoring 1 in the 1st inning. Midway tied it up in the 2nd inning at 1, and then both teams brought in a run in the 3rd to keep knot the score at 2 apiece.

Then the young Raiders drew fire from their bats, bringing in 4 runs in the 4th and another 2 in the 5th to take the lead and eventually get the win. R-S never scored again in the game.

“We had a couple of lapses on defense, but overall they played pretty good,” said Midway Middle coach Sam Kitchin. “We gave up unearned runs, but other than that we fielded everything they hit.”

Leading hitters for Midway were Alex Canady, 2-4 with a double; Hannah Jackson, 1-3 with a triple; Hannah Lucas, 2-3 with a double; and Kaley Dawkins, 1-3 with a home run.

Midway will travel to Union Middle Thursday for a better of perfect records.

“We’ve got to be ready Thursday,” Kitchin said. “Union hasn’t lost either, and they’ve got two good pitchers. Of course, R-S’s Madison Tart is really good to, she can really bring it, and we got the win against her. But, still, we’ve got to be ready. It ought to be a really good game.”
