Sheriff’s deputies are seeking information on a man who walked into a Roseboro convenience store Monday night and swiped the cash drawer when the clerk opened it.

No one was injured, but the suspect got away with cash and left damages of over $1,500.

According to Sheriff’s Capt. Eric Pope, the incident happened around 11:20 p.m. Monday at the EZ Food Mart, 200 E. Fayetteville St., Roseboro.

The store’s clerk had opened the cash drawer to get change and, as she opened it, the suspect grabbed it and ran, leaving the premises on a bicycle, traveling south on N. East Street, according to reports.

Officers are searching for a suspect described as a black male, approximately 6 foot 2 inches tall and weighing 250 pounds. He was wearing a black hat, blue short-sleeve shirt, blue jeans and tan boots at the time of the incident.

A UPC scanner and a glass display rack were damaged. Total damage reported was $1,900.

Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 910-592-4141.
