‘Dogs take down Union

Union’s Spartan boys battled it out on the baseball diamond with Wallace-Rose Hill Tuesday, falling 2-1 in a tightly contested game that remained scoreless until the last two innings. Final score was 2-1, Wallace.

Wallace got both their runs in the 6th inning. Union brought in their 1 and only run in the 7th.

Tyler Matthis was on the mound all 6 innings for the Spartans, striking out 6, walking 3 and giving up 2 runs on 4 hits.

Leading hitters for Union were Alfredo Garcia, who went 1-3 with 1 RBI; Cory Smith, 1-3; and Dustin Alphin, 1-4.

Union is on the road again Friday, traveling to Trask for a 6 p.m. game.
