A Tri-County track meet was held Monday at Lakewood with teams from Trask, James Kenan, Midway, and Wayne Country Day all participating.
Some local individual winners include Midway’s Michael McLamb with a time of 5:12 in the 1600 meter run. Raider Caleb Saunders was third in that event with a time of 5:17. The Raiders took the first two spots in the 3200 meter run with Michael McLamb, 11:23; and Alex Bradley, 11:37.
Midway also took the first and third spots in the 800 meter run, Alex Boggs came in at 2:17 and Dalton Butler, 2:21.
Midway’s Travis Dawson was second in the 100 meter dash and ran it in 11.60. He came in second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24:00, also.
In the 400 meter dash, Leopard Jabriel Cooper took the third spot with a time of 58:00.
Lakewood’s Malik Jackson was third in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 19.04. He came in second in the 300 meter hurdles with 46.93. Midway’s Ritchel Cousar took third with a time of 47.87.
Leopard Demetrius West was third in the shot put with a mark of 41-05.50.
In the jumps, Lakewood had a good showing. The Leopards took the first two spots in the high jump with Tirek James coming in first at 5-06, and Tyler Spell at 5-04. In the triple jump, James took second with 38-02.
In the boys relays, Midway took first place in the 4x800 meter with 9:33. Lakewood came in second just 19 seconds behind at 9:52. Wayne Country Day came in at 10:45.
James Kenan took first in the 4x100 with 46.25 seconds. Midway was just .69 seconds behind at 46.94. Lakewood came in third at 47.44 seconds.
In the 4x400 relay, Trask took first with a time of 3:47; Midway was second with 4:08; and Lakewood, third with 4:20.
It was all Lakewood in the shot put category for the girls with Tiesha Rich hitting the mark at 31-11; Shaquandra Lilly, 29-03; and Swazay Marable, 28-10.50.
Marable took first place in the discus throw with a 79-00 mark, while Lilly took third place with 71-11.
In the 1600 meter run, it was a Raider victory with Briana Butler squeezing in first at 7:02.
In the dashes, Leopard Maliyah Servance took first in the 100 with a time of 14:10. She was followed by Midway’s Rosalyn Williams in third at 14.64. Servance came in second in the 200 with a time of 29:99. Raider Christian Stewart was third with 31.04.
In the 400, Lakewood’s Rich came in first with a time of 1:14. Raider Emily Williams was second, 1:15; Leopard Lakkeya Sellers took third, 1:17.
Bianca Moore took first place in the 800 meter run with a time of 3:12.
In the hurdles, Lakewood’s Briana Evans took first in the 300 with a time of 1:02. She came in second in the 100 with a time of 21.75.
Lakewood’s Brittney Boykin dominated in the jumps with a first place in the triple jump with a mark of 28-08, and a first in the long jump with a mark of 14-02.50. Teammate Bianca Moore was second at 13-11.50.
Lakewood came in first in 3 relays. The time in the 4x800 was Lakewood, 12:22; Midway, 12:41; Trask, 12:51. The time in the 4x100 was Lakewood, 55.71; James Kenan, 57.00; and Midway, 1:35.00. In the 4x200, Lakewood, 2:03; Midway, 2:23. Midway was the only team to participate in the 4x400 and the Raider time was 5:48.
The next local track meet is the Civitan Jamboree held this year at Lakewood on Wednesday, March 27.
