Baseball

The Crusader baseball team slipped by Coastal Christian with a 4-3 win despite a 6th inning comeback that almost tied the game.

CC jumped on the scoreboard first with 2 quick runs in the 1st, but Harrells battled back with 1 run in the 2nd and 1 run in the 3rd inning. Both teams held their ground in the 4th and then the Crusaders managed to bring in 2 runs in the 5th.

Coastal Christian scored 1 run in the bottom of the 6th, but couldn’t get that second run that would have tied the score.

Winning pitcher for Harrells was Mike Smith, who gave up 4 hits; 0 walks; had 12 strikeouts; and allowed 1 unearned run.

Leading hitters for the Crusaders were Landon Inman, who went 2-2, scored 2 runs, and had 1 RBI; White went 1-2; Joseph Phaneuf, 1-3; and Cory Sutton, 2 RBIs.

Harrells’ record moves to 3-3 and they host Village Christian on Tuesday.
