SPIVEY’S CORNER — In Sampson County Middle School baseball and softball action on Monday the Midway Middle Raiders played host to the Roseboro-Salemburg Middle Leopards with the Raiders taking both games.

The Lady Raiders picked up a 15-2 win over the Leopards with Elizabeth McCullen pitching a solid game with 10 strikeouts.

Leaders for Midway: Jada Cannady, 2/2, grand slam HR; Katlyn Jackson, 2/3; Elizabeth McCullen, 2/3.

Raiders softball coach Sam Kitchin stated, “Natasha Tyndall, Morgan Smith and Sabra Knowles all had good plays in the field. Our next game will be against Union Middle and we will need to play our best to beat them.”

The Midway Middle baseball team shut out RSMS 15-0 in 5 innings. Taylor Calcutt got the win going the 5 innings, allowing no hits, and striking out 5.

Midway Middle travels to Union Middle on Thursday. Game time is 4 p.m. The Leopards are open.
