Clinton’s Rachel Byrd pushes the ball up field towards the Dark Horse goal during Thursday’s rainy match with South Lenoir. Despite the dark clouds looming in the skies, the Lady Horses were able to defeat the Lady Blue Devils 6-0.
Even the officials were surprised to get this one in. Clinton director of athletics, Jeff Sawvel stated that they were going to play this one unless it was lightening. Although the crowd of Dark Horses was limited, they were spirited and supported their team. The rain held off for most of the match but started to pick up intensity in the final minutes of the game.
Scoring for Clinton: Camille Carr, 1 goal; Sarah Murphy, 1 goal; Jandira Zaki, 1 goal; Rachel Byrd, 1 goal; Catherine Coleman, leading with 2 goals.
The Lady Dark Horses will be home again on Monday taking on Southwest Onslow.
