The Wildcats got on the board first when Angelica Perez blasted a loose ball into the Leopard’s net 15 minutes into the game from 10 yards out. The Leopards would answer 10 minutes later when they would score on a corner kick. Both teams would play evenly for the rest of the half and remained tied 1-1.
The Wildcats turned up the offensive attack in the second half getting several shots, but the RSMS goal keeper would stand tall in goal every time. “Their keeper was outstanding. She kept them in the game,” stated Hobbton Middle soccer coach Damon Burnett. Hobbton would take the lead for good when Clarissa Davila scored off of a pass from Marcy McLamb for the game winner.
"This was a hard fought win for us. That is about an even of a soccer game you would see,” added Burnett.
The Lady Wildcats improve to 2-2 and are open next week. The Lady Leopards will travel to Sampson Middle for a match next Tuesday. Match time is 4 p.m.
