A total of four people were arrested in two separate incidents over the weekend at checkpoints set up by the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office.
In the early morning hours of Saturday, deputies pulled over a 2003 Pontiac Aztec on Sunset Avenue and charged the driver, James Mitchell Bennett, 28 , of 135 Emerly Lane, Clinton, with possession of cocaine (1.0 gram), possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a revoked license. Bennett was placed under a $4,000 bond.
Bennett’s passenger, Willie Franklin Boykin, Jr, 23, 821 Taylor’s Bridge Road, Clinton, was charged with possession of cocaine. Boykin was given a $5,000 bond.
At a separate checkpoint stop at Seven Eagles Lane in Clinton, another driver and passenger were arrested on drug charges.
Dustin Earl Boykin, 23, of 2419 Winding Creek Road, Wilson, was charged with possession of a schedule II drug (3.1 grams of methaphetamine); possession of a precursor chemical and possession of drug paraphernalia, after his Chevy S-10 pickup truck was pulled over at a traffic checkpoint around 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
His passenger, David Alan Williamson, of 7311 St. Mary’s Church Road, Lucama, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture/sell or deliver of schedule VI; possession of schedule II controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Williamson was reportedly in possession of marijuana and was alleged to have .20 grams of crack cocaine in the vehicle.
Boykin was given a $5,000 bond and a trial date of April 17; Williamson was given a $10,000 bond anda trial date of April 17.
In yet another separate checkpoint held Saturday evening at Brooklyn Avenue in Harrells, John Bryant, 66, of 505 Cliff Street, Wallace, was charged with possession of a schedule II substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after his 2002 Ford Ranger was stopped. Deputies found .4. grams of crack cocaine.
Bryant was given a $5,000 bond and a trail date of April 24.
