After an arrest earlier this year on three misdemeanors, a Clinton City Schools teacher assistant was arrested again early Tuesday morning.

According to reports by the Clinton Police Department, Vivian Locklear Cain, 46, of 501-A Fulton Street, Clinton, was arrested Tuesday at 7:24 a.m. from a warrant issued on April 1 for second degree trespassing. According to the report, Cain was “located and served” the criminal summons.

The complainant listed in the warrant is Joe Beatty Cain, of 350 Moore’s Road, Clinton.

Vivian Cain was given no bond and a trial date of May 11.

According to the Clinton City Schools website (www.clinton.k12.nc.us/butler/faculty), Cain is listed as a teacher’s assistant at Butler Avenue School.

Earlier this year, she was arrested by the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, domestic communicating threats and assault by pointing a gun — all misdemeanors. She was never jailed after the incident and released the same day.

I don't know Mrs. Cain, however, Mr. Cain has been around the block before. Seems to me his 1st wife was faced with similar circumstances. History repeating itself......thats sad...

@christina87-

First and foremost, please let me say that I apologize to no end for the comments I made about your mother. I don't know what came over me to make such ignorant remarks. I know better than such as this- NO EXCUSE! You are exactly right in that the Sampson Independent built up this article to attract it's readers (as that IS indeed their job) and it worked... I took the bait, I admit and I am ashamed of what I said in my comment box below. Even after I posted it, I had a regrettable feeling about it, but once an item has been posted, it cannot be deleted (at least not that I have found, if so, I would have already taken it off). You are right again, in that none of us here or there or anywhere know what really is going on except those directly involved. I can only imagine the turmoil your mother is facing with all of this as well as yourself and I know I would not want anyone to judge my family- especially in such a manner as what has been left on this forum. Again, I am very sorry for what I have posted below, I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me. Good luck to your mother, you, and the rest of your family through all of this. I hope you all see brighter days in the near future...

To those that have left comments or read this article, Vivian Cain is my mother! After reading this article and the comments left by those that don’t even know the situation or let alone my mother it saddens me to hear the things people have said. For one thing the paper doesn’t even have their facts straight. Just to let you all know the papers can make mistakes or stretch facts to make their stories more interesting, not just this article but with any throughout the years. In the paper it states that “Earlier this year, she was arrested by the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, domestic communicating threats and assault by pointing a gun”. The only thing true about this part is communicating threats and that only because she was defending herself after arguing with my step-father and we all know when arguments happen we can say things we don’t mean. My mother has never pointed a gun at anyone and the person who made the comment about my mother waving a gun in the faces of children I pity u for actually thinking a mother and grandmother who is dedicated her life to making a difference in the lives of children could actually say a thing like that. Anyone who knows my mother knows she is truly committed to her job and students. It’s hard to have teachers that truly care about each and every kid they come in contact with and my mother is one of those teachers every kid wishes they had growing up. All my mother wants is to be happy and she deserves it after all the hard things she’s had to deal with that you people could never understand. She has stood by my step-father through thick n thin just like he has her and she’s trying to keep things civil and stay friends but that’s difficult when they both know how to push each other’s buttons after 18yrs or more of being together. All she’s been trying to do is get “her” belongings out of “her” home not “their” home because they haven’t lived in the same house together for over 5 yrs. (something else you could never understand) They have their own homes and my mother’s is in her name along with all her bills and she never got any help from my step-father. So it’s hard trying to explain to the cops and everyone else he never lived in her home and all she wants is to get “her” things and go on with her life. And just to let everyone know my mother has been teacher of the year many times along with being recognized for her other great accomplishments throughout her many dedicated years with the school. So I would appreciated it if everyone would reserve judgment b/c you don't know the whole story. My mother has tried being the bigger person every time and letting things go but it’s the lawyers and my step-father and everyone else who keeps dragging this out. And just so something’s not said me and my step-father still talk and get along, I have no hard feeling for my mother or step-father, I love them very much and i'm their to support both of them. feel free to comment on this or ask questions, but keep in mind my mother is a good person who is being betrayed as something she's not!

I'm not for sure but it is my belief that one can still get a DIVORCE in Sampson County. Why let it go this far? Out of control confrontations between husbands and wives gets people killed. Take it to court. The sun doesn't shine on the same dog's butt all the time. Or at least thats what I've been told over the years. However, I am a firm believer in defending ones self.

Looks like some bad blood in the family. While I don't know Ms Cain or the ones filing the charges, I will say this. If anyone understands POS family members(sisters in particular) it would be me. So I will reserve judgement because I don't know the whole story and there's always another side. However, whatever they did or continue to do, it's not worth losing your job or going to jail over. What kind of example are you setting for the students you teach? Come on Ms Cain, be the bigger person here and let it go.

It obviously doesn't take much to become a teacher's assistant ( in the way of a back ground check) in the county these days.

I am appalled that she's employed at any school with her past record anyway, I certainly hope to see her removal in the near future, however, I won't be holding my breath...

Wonder how she reacts and what happens when those little elementary children get too loud and do not behave when she tells them to. Ya'll don't reckon Viv waves a .25 at 'em?!

Well, Vivian, all I can say is "BRAVO!!!!". Once again, the educational establishment has presented us with another outstanding educator. Let's see, where should I begin? Here we go;

Earlier this year, she was arrested by the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, domestic communicating threats and assault by pointing a gun — all misdemeanors. She was never jailed after the incident and released the same day.

Now, I don't know about any of the other posters on the SI, but I'm pretty sure Vivian Cain wouldn't be my first choice of Teacher of the Year. I just wonder, with her outstanding morals and ethics, if she will continue to teach our little crumb crunchers.....
