The Lady Dark Horse soccer team had two games this week, with Clinton hosting Southwest Onslow on Monday, April 6. Southwest got the 3-1 win.

According to Clinton coach Jeff Smith, it was a hard-fought match, and with just under 10 minutes to go in the game the score was tied 1-1. Southwest scored two late goals to pull away in this closely fought contest and the score ended at 3-1. Clinton’s defense played a great game, led by Laura Bradshaw, Sarah Murphy and an outstanding performance from goal keeper Laura Deans. Clinton’s score came on a beautiful set play from a free kick in which Catherine Coleman headed a ball into the corner of the net that was assisted by Sarah Murphy.

On Wednesday night, the Lady Dark Horses traveled to Deep Run to take on South Lenoir. The Lady Horses displayed some excellent ball movement and great teamwork to come away with their second conference win in an 8-0 victory. A host of Lady Dark Horse players scored. They were led by Coleman with 4 goals, Murphy with 2 goals, Ashley Partida with one goal and Halee Smith with one goal. The team will now get some much needed rest as the Easter break occurs.

The next game will be at home against Northside Jacksonville at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 20.
