On the heels of five arrests last week, stemming from a four-month long undercover investigation by agents with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office located inside the city limits of Roseboro, two additional arrests have been made in connection with the campaign.
Dubbed “Operation Roseboro,” the campaign was initiated about four months ago and specifically targeted individuals who were selling controlled substances ranging from marijuana to cocaine in Roseboro.
Late Thursday evening, investigators arrested Roger Dale Boykin, 35, of 21 Odom Street, Garland, and Melissa Mitchell, 20, of 989 Pleasant Union Church Road, Roseboro.
Boykin was charged with selling marijuana, delivering marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, conspiracy to deliver marijuana and conspiracy to sell marijuana. Boykin was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $150,000.00 bond. Investigators also discovered that Boykin is currently on probation for numerous drug convictions.
Mitchell was also charged with selling marijuana, delivering marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, conspiracy to deliver marijuana and conspiracy to sell marijuana. Mitchell was similarly placed in the Detention Center under a $150,000.00 bond. Reports state that Mitchell has been previously convicted of numerous property crimes.
When asked of the success of the undercover investigation last week, Sampson County sheriff Jimmy Thornton stated, “I’m grateful to my drug agents and the patrol deputies assigned to Roseboro for their hard work and dedication. I am most grateful to the citizens of Roseboro who have provided us with valuable information on persons selling drugs in their town. It is encouraging when the citizens of a community step forward and assist us in cleaning up their neighborhood.”
