ROSEBORO — Three Roseboro residents were taken into custody and two were charged with numerous drug offenses after approximately 146 grams of marijuana was found in their apartment Thursday night.
According to reports, deputies assigned to the town of Roseboro went to apartment 409 in Roseboro Village Apartments late Thursday night (at around 11 p.m.) in an attempt to locate a person on outstanding warrants.
While talking with the resident, Milford Boykin, the deputies observed drug paraphernalia and smelled what they termed a strong odor of marijuana. The deputies immediately called for assistance from the Sheriff’s Special Investigations Division.
After a search of the residence, approximately 146 grams of marijuana, valued at $1,500, five grams of cocaine, valued at $1,000 ,and four marijuana plants, valued at $10,000, were located.
The deputies also located Marcus Owens, who was wanted on outstanding warrants for breaking and entering.
Milford Ray Boykin, 68, of 409 East Jackson St., Roseboro, was charged with manufacturing marijuana; maintaining a dwelling for the storage of a controlled substance; and possession of cocaine. He was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $30,000bond.
Brandon Brice James, 25, of 388 Isaac Road, Clinton, was charged with manufacturing cocaine; possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine; possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana; and manufacturing marijuana.
James, who has been previously convicted of multiple drug offenses, was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $100,000 bond.
Marcus Owens, 31, of 206 Park Road, Roseboro, was charged with failure to appear on breaking and entering; failure to appear on larceny after breaking and entering; and failure to appear on possession of stolen property. He was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $20,000bond.
