Twenty-eight dollars worth of cologne has left a Salemburg man charged with larceny and placed under a $750 secured bond after a botched shoplifting attempt at Wal-Mart Monday afternoon.

According to reports from the Clinton Police Department, Jose Antonio Urrutia-Sanchez, 23, of 114 Elbow Road, Salemburg, entered the store, located at 1415 Sunset Ave. in Clinton, about 2:30 p.m. picked up two bottles of cologne (valued at $17 each), reportedly concealed them and walked out of the store.

Store security officials immediately contained him after he left the building and awaited Clinton police.

Urrutia-Sanchez was taken to the Sampson County Detention Center and placed under a $750 secured bond.

It is the fourth arrest at the Wal-Mart since Friday, when officers arrested three others at the store in two separate incidents that happened within an hour of each other.

Wal-Mart security was able to detain all three suspects after one attempted to steal and $13 CD and the two others were seen concealing assorted clothing in a bag and trying to exit the front of the store.

All three were charged with larceny and will have trial dates later this month.

Urrutia-Sanchez will have a trial date of June 27.

I guess the sheriff's dept. could have used the security guard to "sniff" out those armed robbers last week since the K-9 wasn't cuttin' it.

Here again we have this highly motivated person who thinks he can outwit the cameras at Wal-Mart. Hey, jose, it's Wal-Mart. They have better security than most banks. Jeez.
