PLAIN VIEW — Deputies with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Special Investigations Division arrested three men for multiple drug charges after an undercover sting Thursday night that led to the seizure of approximately two grams of marijuana and 22 grams of cocaine. According to officials, the drug sting was set up based on complaints from residents in the Plain View community.

Deldrick Montel Crowell, 19, of 703 Magnolia Ave., Dunn, was charged with trafficking cocaine by selling; trafficking cocaine by delivering; trafficking cocaine by manufacturing; trafficking cocaine by possession; trafficking cocaine by transport; conspiracy to traffic cocaine by selling; conspiracy to traffic cocaine by delivery; conspiracy to traffic cocaine by possession; conspiracy to traffic cocaine by transport; conspiracy to traffic cocaine by manufacturing; two counts of selling cocaine; two counts of delivering cocaine; and two counts of manufacturing cocaine. Crowell, who has previously been convicted on other drug-related charges, was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $350,000 bond.

Also taken into custody was Mickey McNeill Jr., 24, of 1005 East Edgerton St., Dunn. He was charged with conspiracy to traffic cocaine by selling; conspiracy to traffic cocaine by delivery; conspiracy to traffic cocaine by possession; conspiracy to traffic cocaine by transport; and conspiracy to traffic cocaine by manufacturing. McNeill was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $150,000 bond.

The last person arrested was George Christopher McNeill, 29, of 401 East Carr St., Dunn, who was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana and manufacturing marijuana. He was previously convicted of breaking and entering. Thursday night, he was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $75,000 bond for the most recent drug charges.

Sources close to the investigation say the sting was initiated by citizen complaints alleging Crowell was selling drugs in the parking lots of businesses in the Plain View community.

Sheriff Jimmy Thornton said that he was “very appreciative” of the citizens who called in the complaints and provided “valuable” information that led to the successful arrests of the three men.
