CLINTON — A two-vehicle collision Friday afternoon backed up traffic for about an hour on N.C. Hwy. 411 just outside of Clinton, near Garland, according to N.C. Highway Patrol officials.

The wreck, officials said, happened at 12:50 p.m. Friday, after a vehicle traveling west on Hwy. 411 turned into a private residence and then collided with a vehicle that was traveling east.

“One vehicle turned into the other,” said Trooper K. Weeks. “It was almost a head-on collision, but not quite.”

Weeks said that three people in total — two from the car traveling east and one from the car that turned into the residence — suffered “minor” injuries.

“A few cuts and scrapes, but everyone was up and talking after the accident and they are all going to be alright,” he said.

Traffic on Hwy. 411 went to one lane of traffic for about an hour until the scene was cleared and traffic resumed normally.

Names of the persons involved were not released and the driver who turned into the residence will most likely be cited.
