A Clinton man was charged with trafficking opium/oxycodine, a felony, and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated after investigators with the Clinton Police Department stopped a 1990 Volvo 240 in the parking lot of the Handee Hugos convenience store at Southeast Boulevard about 1:32 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Offenses were lodged against the driver, Cory Lendell Joyner, 30, of 336 Hood Lane, Clinton, after investigators reportedly found 32 grams of a drug believed to be oxycodine in the vehicle. Estimated value of the substance was $800. Officers also confiscated a digital scale valued at $30 during the arrest.
Joyner was taken into custody and processed without incident, reports noted.
He was given a $1,500 bond and a trial date of Aug. 14.
