It's off to the races at Sampson Community College, as preparations are being made for the upcoming New Student Orientation and Early Registration. It will be held July 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Warren Student Center on campus.

This year’s themed event is aptly titled “Race to Success,” an idea that Amy Noel, dean of Student Services, said is geared to motivate and encourage students to achieve their educational goals. “This event is geared towards those first-time incoming students who are seeking post-secondary opportunities, and this day will afford them the opportunity to meet academic advisors as well as receive that individualized attention in their interested program of study.”

Students interested in applying will need a completed admissions application, official high school transcript, placement test scores, SAT or ACT scores if available, and/or other college transcripts. Financial aid counselors will also be on hand for interested applicants as well. No appointment is needed to attend, only eager students ready to further their educational goals.

Noel said she strongly encourages students to get to the starting line early, because classes will fill up fast during regular registration. “This is a unique opportunity for students seeking admission to take advantage to beat the rush of other students looking to fill up the same slots.”

Regular registration for Fall Semester will be held Aug. 11 and 12 on campus. For more information about registering, visit www.sampsoncc.edu.
