ROSEBORO — A Roseboro man has been arrested in a local residential break-in, during which nearly $2,600 worth of items were stolen.

Patrick Cornelius Matthis, 43, of 1609 Old Mintz Hwy., Roseboro, was charged with breaking and entering, larceny, possession of stolen goods and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was served the charges at the Sampson County Law Enforcement Center Monday and placed under $30,000 unsecured bond. He was released.

The charges stemmed from a recent break-in at the home of Brian James of 2404 Claudes Drag Road, Roseboro, according to reports. There was a television, 9mm handgun and a DVD player in the incident. The items had a total value of $2,570.

Reports state the television, valued at $2,300, has since been recovered by authorities.
