Fayetteville man arrested for Clinton robbery

A Fayetteville man has been arrested on robbery, larceny and weapons charges following a break-in to a local home, in which he attempted to rob victims of a Clinton-area home while in possession of a stolen handgun.

Abdullah Asad Mujahid, 32, of 2612 Crystal Springs Road, Fayetteville, was charged with breaking and entering, larceny, possession of stolen goods, possession of a stolen firearm, robbery with a dangerous weapon, safe cracking and possession of burglary tools.

The charges stemmed from a break-in Wednesday at 3065 Honeycutt Road, Clinton, in which Bobby Autry, 37, Margie Autry, 39, and Joshua Smith, 16, are all listed as victims. There were reportedly no injuries as a result of the incident, which was reported shortly before noon.

Sampson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the home and subsequently took Mujahid into custody. Reports state that the suspect broke into the home while in possession of a stolen Bersa .380-caliber pistol.

According to reports, Mujahid was arrested at the Honeycutt Road home.

Deputies subsequently recovered an Xbox and assorted Xbox games that had been stolen from Smith; a 12-gauge double-barrel shotgun and night vision scope taken from Bobby Autry; and assorted jewelry taken from Margie Autry.

Damage to the a door frame and sliding glass door at the residence was estimated at $1,130. The total value of the items was $1,690. The stolen .380-caliber pistol was valued at $300.

Mujahid was also charged with a previous break-in incident, stemming from the theft of the firearm, also in Sampson.

Mujahid was placed under $200,000 secured bond for the Honeycutt Road incident. He received an additional $50,000 bond on charges of breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods in the other case.
