Officials with the Clinton-Sampson Chamber of Commerce say they are still looking for someone to fill the executive director’s position vacated last month by Amber Cava.
Cava, who accepted a new position as admissions coordinator for the College of Arts and Sciences at Campbell University, resigned from the position in mid-June, her final day of work with the Chamber was June 30.
Jeff Shipp, Clinton-Sampson Chamber of Commerce president-elect, said earlier this week that members wanted to give “sufficient time” for all interested applicants to apply.
“Right now, there is really no news to report on the position other than it remains open for a couple more weeks with a job ad currently running in The Sampson Independent,” Shipp said, adding that current Chamber president Sherrill Allen has received resumes from numerous qualified applicants.
The Chamber board, he said, is looking for a specific kind of person for the position and members want to be sure who they select fits the role.
“The board is looking for an individual, male or female, who can continue with the positive goals and Chamber operations set forth by our past executive director, and someone who can portray the Chamber in a professional manner, representing business and industry throughout Sampson County.”
Until the position is filled by that qualified applicant, Shipp said that Penny Hudson will cover the duties of the vacant position.
“We are fortunate to have Penny currently in the office as administrative assistant to handle the day-to-day operations until a new director has been selected and encourage everyone to contact Penny and take advantage of all the Chamber services,” he said. “To contact the chamber offices please call 910-592-6177.”
Shipp said that resumes can be sent directly to Sherrill Allen, P.O. Box 855, Clinton, N.C., 28329 or e-mailed to him at slallen@bbandt.com. For more information on the Chamber click on to www.clintonsampsonchamber.org.
