The Clinton Recreation and Parks Department continues to shine a light on the people who help our community through their hours of volunteer service at the department, this month officials take time out to honor Rose Gilford as a spotlight volunteer. She has been a loyal recreation department volunteer for many years and is beloved by our community.

Rose participates in the sewing/quilting class, visits the Bellamy Center for various programs and just comes out to visit with staff and friends . “Ms. Rose”, as everyone affectionately refers to her, commented, “The Clinton Recreation and Parks Department is better than any recreation around and I think that more people should participate in all they have to offer. Everyone needs to know what recreation is all about to help you enjoy what life is all about.”

Rose has been a member of the Recreation Citizens Advisory Board since 1990 and has attended the State Citizen Board Members Forum (CBM) most of those years. In recognition of her many years of service and out of respect for her dedication to God and to the community, it has become a tradition for her to give the blessings at the CBM opening luncheon. Each year she donates one of her beautiful hand made quilts for the door prize raffle, which everyone hopes to win.

According to department officials, Rose has been a fixture at the Clinton Recreation Department in many ways. She volunteers her services at numerous programs such as our annual Easter Egg Hunt, Senior Games, July Fourth Celebration, Citizens With Intellectual Disabilities Dance, and much more. “Rose is a joy to have around and never hesitates to help out when asked,” said director Judi Nicholson. “She is a dedicated volunteer and an asset to our community. She is a great role model for our kids. She has attended the Union Grove Church of Christ all her life and her passion is children. Her hobbies are fishing, sewing, quilting, and cooking for family or friends.”

Brenda Potter, Special Programs Coordinator said, “I would like to say thank you so much to Ms. Rose from our department for all you do and will do in the future. We appreciate you so much because you represent a true spotlight volunteer.”

People like Rose Gilford share the gifts of their time, talents, and especially happiness. This month for those gifts we say thanks Ms. Rose, the spotlight is on you!
